Diplomat & Traveler Gift Guide

When we moved to our first country, I scoured the internet for necessary items to bring with us that would make life abroad easier. Now that we've spent a few years in the game, we get asked this question all the time. Soo... here are 11 items we use almost every single day! They should come in handy whether you are a diplomat, traveler, or looking for the perfect gift for one.

  1. MyCharge Portable USB Charger - My husband is the one that makes sure all of our devices are always charged. I'm often on 1% right as we walk out the door so I bring this with me at all times! We've used several brands over the years and this is one we are loyal to.

  2. Suitcases - Frequent travelers know how often suitcases get beat up. The quality of these is terrific and you can't beat the price (we've tried). A tip is to get the Amazon insurance so you can GUARANTEE you won't have to purchase more within 3-5 years.

  3. VPN Router - You won't need to connect your VPN on every device anymore!

  4. Airtags

  5. Indoor Bike - This thing saved our lives in Nigeria. It's massively less expensive than the Peloton (remember, you can still use the Peleton app for free!), is battery operated, and doesn't require WIFI.

  6. Hammock - We've brought ours all over the world. It's nearly indestructable.

  7. Life Straw Water Bottle - Don't risk your health with water that hasn't been tested.

  8. Animal Tent - We use this for Hemingway our cat in the airports when we travel with her. She can hangout in there on layovers and safely get some food and water.

  9. Drying Rack - The european dryers are just not big enough.

  10. Plane Pillow and Eye Mask - Just trust me you won't ever go without one again.

  11. Dyson Vacuum - Our #1 essential item that travels with us from country to country. Trust me, the cordless Dyson finally makes vacuuming "fun." :)

PS: For inquiring minds from the depths of the internet or sadly from within our own community, I've never made a dollar from this page OR from diplomaticdestinations. This was an effort to compile a few helpful items to help with the lifestyle since moving abroad is a challenging beast. If this bothers you, ask yourself why you are still spending time on this website :)
